Hey luvs, we are Mahe and Raahema. We are two cousins who, despite the geographic distance that divides us, share the same love for fashion. Between living in the Garden state, NJ and the Keystone state, PA, we come across many different people with many unique styles. We are Pakistani-Americans and while we straddle two very different cultures, we find a good balance between the two. Our sense of style is influenced by our religious background as well as our culture. We will fill you in on all the things we are loving this season.xoxo.

Tikas!!!

Hey luvs! Its Mahe and Raahema here with our second “Fashion in another world.” Today we will be discussing a popular jewelry item worn in Pakistan. The traditional head ornament is called a Tika. The tika is worn on the forehead, pinned up with a bobby pin. The jewelry piece is usually worn on fancy occasions such as weddings and/or an Ameen.
This tika would be worn on someone
who would be attending the wedding. It is still
very detailed but the colors make it more appropriate to wear as a guest.

The Tika shown above is
traditionally what brides would wear.   It is more detailed, intricate  and very heavy.
Lastly, this tika that was worn on Mahe's Ameen is more subtle than the others.
The colors are very vibrant but it is not as big as the others

Those are some pictures of people wearing the traditional, Pakistani tikas. What do you guys think of tikas? Would you wear them? Leave your response in the comments below!
xoxo,
                                          Mahe and Raahema <3
