Hey luvs, we are Mahe and Raahema. We are two cousins who, despite the geographic distance that divides us, share the same love for fashion. Between living in the Garden state, NJ and the Keystone state, PA, we come across many different people with many unique styles. We are Pakistani-Americans and while we straddle two very different cultures, we find a good balance between the two. Our sense of style is influenced by our religious background as well as our culture. We will fill you in on all the things we are loving this season.xoxo.

Hashim's Ameen! (Raahema and her Mom)

Hey luvs, it's Raahema here with a post on my little brother's (hashim) ameen. If you don't already know from the post about Mahe's Ameen, then an ameen is a religious ceremony celebrating the finish of reading the holy book of Islam, the Quaran. An ameen is a fairly formal event so I am going to show all of you what my mom and I wore to it.

Raahema's Outfit:

For my brother's ameen, I am wearing a traditional Pakistani outfit called a Shalwar Kameez. The top is called a "Kamiz," while the pants are called the "Shalwar." The outfit is a beautiful golden-yellow color with reddish-maroon detailing. As you can see, the neckline has some detailing on it as well. For my hair, I did the front in loose curls.

The shoes I wore with the "Shalwar Kameez" were flip flop type sandals with a colorful pattern to match the suit. The picture on the right shows the "churian" that I wore with the look. If you don't know what "churian" are, they are basically bangles. My pair of "churian" are red and gold and match my outfit perfectly. They have sparkles and glitter to formalize the outfit.

Raahema's Mom's Outfit:

My mom is wearing another Pakistani suit called a "Sari." A sari wraps around your body to create a very figure-flattering effect. My mom's sari is a beautiful, bright orange with pink detailing on the border of the sari. Although you can't see them, she is also wearing pink heels. Lastly, she added gold jewelry to accent the outfit.
